I've noticed the same thing. Mine isn't close to the smoothness of the Steez CT, but it is still a load of fun to fish.

Re: What BFS reel to get?
Yes, still love to fish it but would expect more from Daiwa as the Steez Air is based off the CT. Only thing I can think of as I took both apart and had internals side by side is maybe the thickness of the main gear or the material?
Get the smoothness of ct, drag clicker, star drag clicker and get casting/pitching performance of Air by using spacers made to take up the frame to spool gap that allows you to use 28mm Air spool.

Re: What BFS reel to get?
The weight and size difference alone would drive me to the CT. The CT is super smooth too. I never used the Conquest BFS but, I wouldn't think would complain about the CT smoothness at all.Laughterism wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 10:53 amyou guys are killing me man, Make me wanna get a CT but Im like conquest or na
Its a really nice reel stock. That Roro Spool is really nice but, very limited in its uses. The stock spool has a ton of range for weights.

I have and LOVE a Conquest BFS and a Daiwa Alphas Airstream Custom for steam trout. Both make me smile.

Not that much of a weight difference. I also own 3Sore Thumb wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 1:36 amHuge weight difference, so material variations would account for a lot of the difference in feel.
Ct in different gear ratio and they all butter smooth.
Re: What BFS reel to get?
Got to use alphas air tw today for an hour, I'm impressed, reel feel's more solid compared to steez air tw, casting wise I feel it is more controlled than steez air and I don't see much or any difference in casting distance. Lightest lure I used
was 3grams and was trowing up to 3/8oz spinnerbait just to see how it handles resistance baits, with 3/8 I do feel It struggles a bit but no issues with 1/4. I've only replaced knob bushings with bearings so far, will also add couple to worm gear . Spooled with 8lb sunline Super natural mono on 6'7" light rod.Cought nice bass on TRD with 1/15oz Jughead, probably my biggest in past couple years.- the hooligan

Those are some slabs Gary
The steez air is an excellent caster but the lack of smoothness on retrieve is what turned me off.
The steez ct is the greatest bfs platform I’ve had the pleasure to use. The stock spool is very impressive and a $50 AliExpress spool turns it into a beast.

^ Nice stuff Pastrmka!
I haven't still ordered Alphas Air, but I'm pretty sure that I will order it. Probably there's not huge difference from K.T.F. spool / Roro spool equipped ct Alphas, but if there's available smaller spools, I must have it.
I really hope that Alphas Air will sell good! And make Daiwa to think how small reels it really is needed? Alphas Stratosphere?

Got a alphas air tw today, feels good in hand, goood amount narrower and lower sitting on rod that my alphas CT, will report later after few fishing sessions

Is the level winder synchronized with the handle movement when locking the spool, or is it like the old Alphas where you have to let out line or retrieve to move the level winder?

Re: What BFS reel to get?
For BFS I choose my Conquest BFS, ABU Revo ALC-BF, Revo LTX-BF or Daiwa Alphas ASC before my Steez&Millionaire CT any day of the week and twice all days...
Re: What BFS reel to get?
And I choose Steez CT TW with Roro and Ray's spools. The original spool is actually good down to 2g with a limited amount of mono spooled on. Unless casting something extremely light I prefer the Ray's spool over Roro due to the movable inductor.
