What BFS reel to get?
I have the Shimano Aldebaran, But i want something else that can cast light lures but also handle, Drum,Trout,Steelhead in creeks and Bass,Bowfin. I was looking at the Conquest BFS or Daiwa Steez CT not sure which one I should get or if there is another one anyone would like to tell me about lol.
Re: What BFS reel to get?
Define light lures, are you looking to cast 1/32, 1/16,1/8oz???
For 1/8oz on up the millionaire ct, alphas ct, steez ct and aldebaran 30mgl reels are great out of the box. The bfs spools available for the ct reels are excellent and can cast super light stuff.
I have the aldebaran bfs and I can go down to around 1.3g with decent accuracy, below that I'd need the avail spool. I've snagged a few grass carp on it night fishing and it handled them just fine.
The conquest bfs is on my wish list and so is the new alphas air tw that was just released. The steez air looks interesting but it's very pricey.

With BFS, casting weights matter. With the fish you mentioned, a longer rod 5'6ish will help cushion the pulling of the bigger fish. Line choice also drives rod taper and vice versa.
My new Alphas SV TW is on its way from Japan Tackle. Cant wait.

Re: What BFS reel to get?
The Steez AIR is pretty incredible. I can cast down to 1/8 on the Steez CT pretty well, but obviously the Steez AIR has much better finesse capabilities. I haven't used the BFS spools for the Steez CT, but have heard they are impressive.
My Steez AIR is paired up with a St. Croix PFC56LF and I've been using 5# Sunline Supernatural. Micro jigs have been working well and this set up will effectively cast a 1/16 oz jig head with a crappie tube. I'm interviewing for rod partners for this little gem though there's nothing wrong with the St. Croix - I'd just like something a little different for it...

Can you confirm if it has or does not have drag clicker?
Check out the roro spool at 4.5 gram with bearing

Re: What BFS reel to get?
Drag star has a clicker but actual drag when fish is pulling does not click like Steez CT does

Yep, it just matter of time before it is available....I think steez air already has drag clicker conversion avaible and it had only been released few months ago
Re: What BFS reel to get?
That reel on that rod looks like an F-22 parked on a WWII aircraft carrier. Do they make their rods look 20 years old on purpose? I have often wondered this. It must be purposeful to appeal to buyers who want that vintage look.

I was the one who provided all measurements to the Drag Click Kit for Steez Air. I have the Steez Air and even with Drag Clicker, Star Drag Clicker I feel its a downgrade to the Steez CT w/shallow spool. The retrieve on Steez Air not as smooth as CT.
