Steez CT with 700s Shallow Spool or Steez Air
Steez CT with 700s Shallow Spool or Steez Air
Price is about the same when I account for adding the 700s shallow spool to the CT...does one give me any advantage over the other. For under 3/8 oz bfs and no more then 8 lb test line.
Besides the spool; is one reel built better or have other features over the other.
Please keep Replies to Just these 2 Steez reels.
No interest in other reels or spool options.
Thank You.

I own 3 Steez CT and 1 Steez Air. All my Steez CT in different gear ratios and various BFS spools has much smoother retrieve than the Steez Air. Steez CT you will also get drag clicker and star drag clicker. Please note for the Steez Air, Daiwa only recommends 35m of line for max casting performance.

Great this is the info I am looking for.
I have another CT coming and will arrive on Monday.
Anyone here wanna trade the stock deeper spool for the shallower 700s spool....even up trade?

I agree with Sagisi. CT feels much better. Also get the clicking drag. There are a few options for BFS spools for the 30mm as well.

Ok... I will bite... what are the other BFS 30mm spools That are SV that match up well with the CT brake system.
I am old school and use the spool being able to allow my bait continue to fall vertically without any over run after it hits the water. I do mess with my spool tensioner, yes even the zero version. I have all my reels set up for perfection in doing this for jigs and soft plastics. I do not allow my baits to pendulum back to me.
So that is why I prefer to stick with RCS Daiwa spools as my opinion is the inductors are bilt to very tight tolerances to allow this.

KTF spools are very good, but extremely pricey. Tomorrow i will try my affordable priced chinese Roro spool with No 1 spinners and hopefully with big perches and maybe with pikes.

CT definitely. Much more versatile. Also made in Japan.

I have a bunch of spools for the ct including KTF and also 28mm steez air spool with my spacers. I say look into either roro or Amo spools. 1/3 the price of ktf and you get amazing performance. I’ll probably get hated on but I feel it out performs the ktf if you swap out the bearing and polish the shaft ends.

Line capacity of 6 and or 8 lb.
It’s going on a Steez Harrier Finesse.

Agree with everything ryan said. I have a ct and had a steez air. Steez ct is much smoother and drag clicker.
I run the stock spool with 6-8lb fluoro. Its a great power bfs spool for 1/16-1/8oz plastics. I have an amo spool for 4lb line for trout/panfish. Ive thrown down to 1gram on that spool. Very impressive for the money.
I was going to grab that rcs 700s spool but its actually heavier than the stock ct spool. Just a heads up.

Re: Steez CT with 700s Shallow Spool or Steez Air
Keep in mind that most of the Aliexpress spools for the 30mm reels are not SV type in that they are fixed inductor. There is one Ray's Studio Air Brake (SV) type spool in the $56 range. For the ultra shallow and ultra light spools casting UL baits I actually prefer fixed inductors. There is often insufficient energy in the cast with UL baits to activate the Air Brake mechanism. The Ray's spools with the knock off Air Brake can be quite fast and wild with UL bait. Fixed inductor is better for those baits IMO. I would go with a Roro or Amo product.

There is also a shallow version of the 30mm Steez CT SV spool offered by Daiwa.

Accordingly to my experience with the T3 Air, that is not true. I had the problem with the inductor getting stuck in the outmost position and I could right away feel the difference even when pitching a 3g lure for trout.LowRange wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:50 pmFor the ultra shallow and ultra light spools casting UL baits I actually prefer fixed inductors. The SV/Air brake system does a difference in how straight and easy you cast.
I have invested in some Roro and Amo spools with fixed inductor but realized that the Ray’s SV and original SV/AIR spools still have a more desirable braking profile for my applications and perform better despite being heavier.
If Roro manages to do a SV spool with a slight increase of weight (0,5 to 1gr) then they will change the game. Until there, it’s just something different in the same ballpark.
