Cardiff CI4+?
Does the Cardiff 18 CI4+ have the same paint color as the old Curado 300e?

Looks like the Cardiff is darker and with less purple overtone (hard to tell in still photos)

I have two of the 1000 size Cardiff Ci4 reels and absolutely love the way they fish. Very smooth and the drag is outstanding. They are built on the same specs as the Stradic Ci4+ But with an extra bearing and what Shimano describes as the area drag system. It has an extremely silky engagement when trout strike and it is noticeably effective at keeping trout from snapping the light line especially in current. I made a comparison of the Shimano to a Daiwa Ballistic FW on the ultralight section of the forum when I was trying to decide which Shimano to get. The Cardiff or Soare. I am glad I got these, and couldn’t be more pleased.

Purple Haze?
Thanks for the info.

To me the 2018 cardiff is more of a monotone color than the 300E. No purple in it to my eye. I kinda think the previous version of the cardiff was exactly the same color as the 300E. I like the cardiff a bit better than the stradic ci4+. I guess I should, same reel slightly enhanced. I like my old cardiff c2000 better than my 2018 3000, but I couldn't really tell you why. Just feels smoother in the smaller size.

I don’t think you will be disappointed. I love these reels and am still surprised at how nice they fish.
