Ultra Smooth
Re: Ultra Smooth
Sounds interesting, but how much smoother do you need in a reel? Kind of reminds me of the scene in “There’s something about Mary”, where the dude is talking about 7 minute abs. Then Ben Stiller says, but what if someone comes up with 6 minute abs?

Re: Ultra Smooth
More to go wrong...
I'd prefer larger thickness races and many more smaller diameter balls.

Re: Ultra Smooth
Needs to be more info shown for those bearings and that comparison, I couldn't be too convinced by those claims without seeing the proof.
You could show 2 reels side by side - one stock that'll spin for 5 seconds (factory greased) and the other bearings flushed for 50 seconds.

Re: Ultra Smooth
This is a good point. But, I don’t think that karil and ktf would chance ruining their reputation with a small, enthusiast fan base that spend crazy money on reel accessories by staging a fake test.Slazmo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 2:04 amNeeds to be more info shown for those bearings and that comparison, I couldn't be too convinced by those claims without seeing the proof.

Re: Ultra Smooth
I wouldn't say fake, but what state are the control bearings in? Can you prove that they're brand new out of factory state vs their "you beauty" double banger bearings - which I'd dare say are in ultimate condition for best results?
I mean a dirty stock bearing out of a Curado i-PG spin for >/= 40 seconds and that just flushed and spun.

Re: Ultra Smooth
Both look to be KTF tuned steez CT's for finesse fishing, there should not be any grease in those bearings

How do you order from that website? On their page to create an account it doesn't give an option for USA.
Re: Ultra Smooth
I remember that Aquaftm explained how to do it on a thread about ktf spools.HobeyBaker wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 12:32 pmHow do you order from that website? On their page to create an account it doesn't give an option for USA.
Re: Ultra Smooth
There should be instructions on KTF website how to create account. When I was creating account i just selected japan and whatever prefacture you want. Just make sure you add your actual address in "remarks' box and that you will be paying with Paypal. Once you place order they will send you invoice with all the info and how to pay.
Re: Ultra Smooth
Also, I'm not sure if they started shipping to USA, i know they had put a stop on it due to pandamic.
Re: Ultra Smooth
Hmmm...something pretty suspect with this....looking at the way the spool on the left stops suggests to me that the spool tension knob is done up a fair bit tighter than the fancy “double bearing spool” on the right....Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:27 pmSaw this on IG. This demo is convincing:

You can tell by how instantaneously the spool stops without it decelerating at a more gradual way....it’s slows and then just stops like it is braked...
Not convinced by this alone....think there is a bit of funny business imo...
