Megabass Reels - No More? ... AGS rods?
Megabass Reels - No More? ... AGS rods?
Any idea if they are still supertuning Daiwa's or any other reels or did they get out of the reel game. I haven't seen a t-wing megabass reel or AGS furnished rod.
Re: Megabass Reels - No More? ... AGS rods?
They did the Megabass Rhodium (Tatula) reels with TW.
I hope they bring more “tuned” reels to the table.

Interesting.... Never seen this till now. "Megabass Rhodium"
I'm hoping for some of the higher end reels. Ryogas, New Zillions, Steez etc.... Lets see. Funny its been quite a few years now. Starting to lose hope.
Hopefully no fallout between the brands. Would be nice to see the AGS or T-wing in a megabass product

Weird. This is the first I had heard of the Rhodium reels as well. I would have expected them to tune the TW Steez reels or even the Zillion rather than the standard Tatula CTSV.

Yeah, the rhodium was a bit of a head scratcher. It’s not even based on the more steez-looking tatula ct sv. Rather, it’s based on the previous generation that shared the frame with the previous zillion sv tw. Big downside as I saw it was no free floating spool. It was actually “tuned” to house fewer bearings than the tatula it was based on, if I recall. My guess is that as megabass was becoming more mainstream, they attempted to reach a larger audience with something more accessible. Another possibility is that daiwa was on the cusp of introducing new frames and perhaps it was a good financial agreement with both companies for megabass to dress up a frame daiwa was moving away from. In either case, I’m not sure it was much of a success. I don’t recall a single person on TT posting about experience with it, which is somewhat surprising. Maybe it sold better in other countries.IlliniDawg01 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 12:38 pmWeird. This is the first I had heard of the Rhodium reels as well. The last two reel where T3s and Tatulas. Not sure what they are doing.
Re: Megabass Reels - No More? ... AGS rods?
I dont think they need to anymore. They used to do them when they weren't big in the US, but in the last five or so years, they're pretty massive outside Japan, so there's no need to tune somebody else reels when you're making bank on your own lures and rods.

Forgot that one. At least it's an Alphas but somehow feels like a low effort rehash of the Zonda.Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:49 pmAnd the Lauda. Inspiration and design has been traded for consumption for the masses.

A shame they didn't work on the steez tw. Perfect reel for them to tune. The only other reel i'd like to see them tune is the new zillion1000. Everything else is not even worth tuning.
