Daiwa Heartland HL 6101MRB-18
I'm looking for some feedback on the Heartland series in general and specifically the 6101MRB-18. Has anyone taken the plunge with this stick? Any discussion or feedback on the Heartland and Heartland AGS series would greatly be appreciated. Google translate doesn't quite paint a clear picture of where these rods shine or how they compare to steez and RD. Thanks.

I own this particular model. What kinda info are you after?
Re: Daiwa Heartland HL 6101MRB-18
Heartlands are all purpose rods designed for shore based anglers. I wouldn't recommend if you're after a single purpose rod. What separates them from other rods is the blank construction they call tubular power slim, basically thick walled slender blanks, makes them robust, hard and bend good but loses some crisp feelings, but i find the newer ones better. You will see that they are mostly regular taper, some slow taper, as they are known to be good for full swing casting, even fast taper will bend deeper. Compile-x versions have good sensitivity, hvf rod are good too but can't expect to it to be nearly as good as high end flagship models.

Sorry, I missed you response. I guess I am trying to get a general sense of what the line is all about. I was wondering if this taper is a true cranking rod or if it can pull double duty with plastics and jig hooks. I'm looking for something that fishes similarly to the expride 1610, but a bit more unique and dialed in.

It can handle all of those duties imo. This particular model is one of the most versatile rods I've owned. It's going to be a bit heavier and a little more stout than that Expride. If I was beating the bank with only two rods, I'd bring this and my custom medium light Point Blank. Another option you might want to consider is the 6'10 medium Poison Adrena. It's a little more sensitive than the Heartland. Power is going to be somewhere between the Expride and Heartland. The Heartland can handle power finesse with the right reel, but I wouldn't consider it ideal. It has a slower, fast taper, but nothing remotely like a cranking stick. Good power for a medium, and sensitivity is still good enough to telegraph. I run 12lb fluoro on mine with a Tdz Type R, and KTF Neo versatile spool. I primarily use it for single hook moving baits. Feels tough and durable, with a nice JDM look and feel.Phish-Hunter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 1:31 pmSorry, I missed you response. I have been considering the PA 1610 as well. There's something awfully appealing about the JDM rods that Daiwa produces. I have a new BLX LG+73MLBF but no other experience with anything remotely JDM from Daiwa in terms of rods. All of the Poison rods and the Bantam rods are also very appealing. I really just want to try something from that market, yet I don't really have any holes in my lineup except a jerkbait stick (which I hardly throw in these muddy Louisiana waters). I'm sure that's a sentiment familiar with most on this page.

All the more reason to grab some something versatile . I don't really own any rods that I would consider one trick ponies.Phish-Hunter wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 12:18 pmI have been considering the PA 1610 as well. Daiwa proprietary. Same shape and design as most JDM others. Similar to the Air Beam. Pictures available on Daiwa Japan website.Jason Penn wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 9:20 amwhat reel seat does the heartland non ags models have? they a heavy power reg action rod that i'm curious about
