I have a Daiwa Certate Custom Finesse 2004.
That doesn't mean it came out 20 years ago, right?
Asking for a friend.

Re: Daiwa Numbering Scheme
Not sure if making a joke or genuinely asking but I’ll answer. The 2004 is the spool size. Means 100 yards of 4lb test. It is indeed close to 15-20 years old. Made from 2005-2009.

Re: Daiwa Numbering Scheme
2000 is the reel size. If it ends in "0" or "00", it is a standard deeper spool. The "04" in 2004 indicates a shallow spool that holds 100 yds of 4# line. Daiwa currently designates shallow spools with the letter "S" in the moniker.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Re: Daiwa Numbering Scheme
On some of not most Shimano reels now you can find a 'recycle' triangle and a number which indicates the year of production, very handy.
Would be nice to see the year of production to accurately know what your getting.

Daiwa spool diameters from this era are also larger than current "LT" offerings.
