Killer Heat rods

Post by hungry_cow » Fri Apr 05, 2024 8:09 am

Does anyone have info on Killer Heat rods? In a buyee order I got the Killer Heat Excursion KE-C67MLST as a blind buy. It seems to be a similar rod to the Evergreen Stingray 66 on first impression. The build and rod sleeve look just like Designo. I would have thought it was a Designo rod but it is not labeled anywhere as such.

It appears they have some Designo lineage to them sir!

City17Banner is correct. Killer Heat are basically a "budget line" for Designo. I believe they're built on DG4 or DG5 blanks. They share similarities in terms of models with their Leben and Leben Torque Tune counterparts.

That makes sense, it does very much remind me of the leben torque tune I have. But with more basic components like a Fuji real seat instead of a custom one.

It is about 9000 yen for a one piece rod now. It is getting a bit cheaper recently. ;)

I purchased quite a few rods and they were combined in tubes. It saved a little as it came out to about $60 a rod. If you buy them individually it ranges from around $70 to $150, average would be $80 to $100.

Good to know. Almost purchase a rod a few months back but couldn't pull the trigger not knowing the international shipping costs. Researching posts across forums was just horror stories, though the experiences were dated.
