Cool, I just statrd another tonight also.
To shape the cork start with 60 grit sandpaper then 100 the 150 and 400 to smooth it off. You can take it off pretty quick with the 60 to get the shape you want.

Hey Duz I was wondering how thick the blank is near the butt end? Is It thin and easy to sand through or wider? Would sanding cause major problems to the blank?

Looks good man, Ya I wouldnt go overboard with sanding, but I dont think you could ever break the butt section in the handle, you would have to do something crazy. I will post pics of my newly done rod soon.
