Re: Winter is here
Very nice it looks like the same storm that hit here. It was no fun being out in it unless your doing doughnuts.

Re: Winter is here
Glad that you got your power. Hopefully this season will be mild to warm.
Re: Winter is here
How do you folks keep from freezing to death when the power goes out for 48 hours?

I was home on leave in NY during the Ice Storm of 90. My parents house went without power for 3 weeks. They had no generator, we used coleman lanterns and wood stove. You would be surprised how you get by. Its a pain, but you get by anyway.
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
Re: Winter is here
You burn all your stuff to keep warm while you figure out what part of Texas your going to move to .
Re: Winter is here
I'd make it somewhere South of Lake Leon...17 degrees here this morning. Brrrrrrrrrr.

Re: Winter is here
i think that's the storm that swept here first (kansas city). First day was freezing rain, then next day 8 inches of snow. 1-2 punch within 24hours.
how do we keep from freezing when the electricity goes out for 48hrs you ask? firewood and some folks have a generator because it's very common here. worse case is to go to a family member's house that isn't knocked out if you can get around. it sucks because no sat/cable or internet sometimes. man how dependent we have become on it.

Man, I must be tough. I live in a house that doesn't have a furnace. Only a woodstove. And I don't live in Texas!
