Winter is here

Post by illini » Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:33 pm

The Ice knocked our power out for 2 days, That was a long 2 days at the inlaws. We were lucky no house damage just some small trees that probaly wont make it. My dad said this ice storm was nothing compared to the storm of 1978. Here are just a few pics to show the ice.

Glad that you got your power. Hopefully this season will be mild to warm.

I was home on leave in NY during the Ice Storm of 90. My parents house went without power for 3 weeks. They had no generator, we used coleman lanterns and wood stove. You would be surprised how you get by. Its a pain, but you get by anyway.

i think that's the storm that swept here first (kansas city). First day was freezing rain, then next day 8 inches of snow. 1-2 punch within 24hours.

how do we keep from freezing when the electricity goes out for 48hrs you ask? firewood and some folks have a generator because it's very common here. worse case is to go to a family member's house that isn't knocked out if you can get around. it sucks because no sat/cable or internet sometimes. man how dependent we have become on it. :D

progressive, I haven't had a tv in 6years now, to much work to do so I don't have time to watch it so why pay the cable bill.

Man, I must be tough. I live in a house that doesn't have a furnace. Only a woodstove. And I don't live in Texas! :)
