Okumura's Deps ZDV 100H! (at last)

Post by Fishingboy » Mon Aug 06, 2007 4:36 am

Been real exited today as i just recieved my ZDV100H! the bead blasted finish is just awsome. looks kind of like the certate vintage custom, but a bit darker in shade. overall the reel looks great. have not tried fishing with it yet. I don't fish large swimbaits, so, i'll most probably use it for pitching rubber jigs. I found that it's handle is really short (74mm). haven't fish with such short handle since i last used my Calcutta 50 (75mm). Will post some pictures when i get home later today.

manage to find some time to take these few pictures. sorry for the poor picture quality, especially some closeups  . All pictures were taken without the use of flash. the finish looks like it's hand finished. the reel is clean and doesn't spot any lables, apart from the laser etched Deps insignia and the "made in japan" markings. if Yuki ito and megabass can do reels, Okumura and Deps can as well. Just simply got to love this reel :P

Image
The pakage (the box is plain, without any details or specifications of the reel, the lable on the top of the box is just a piece of big sticker)

Image
What's inside (the usual stock standard Daiwa light lube, ZDV specific instruction manual, and a reel cover which looks and feels abit like the steez cover)

Image
Front view (similar finish to the Certate Vintage Custom)

Image
Top view (2x through and 3x studded top frame. I wished that all 5 holes were through holes  )

Image
Gear side view (the handle sure is short!)

Closeup of the side view

View from the bottom

One last shot 8-)

Limited Edition Zillion by the founder of Deps

I recall someone posting a link on the forum somewhere - I think... for something like 45000 JPY.

Retail price in Japan is JPY49000. the price is quite affordable, similar price as with the steez. However, due to rather limited production, some are selling it at JPY58000 and some even at ripped of JPY80000 on yahoo auctions japan! got mine for JPY49000 through a friend who ordered and paid for it on my behalf, through a Japanese online store, which only had one righty in store. I'm rather lucky that i stumbled upon a righty. haven't seen any lefties available online so far. Apparently, from what i've heard, only 600 were ever manufactured. it weights 230grams (~8.1 OZ). Personally, I don't think there's any significant difference in performance over the stock Zillion, apart from the Magforce-V braking.

Nice reel. Quite cool to find a magforce-v on a Zillion as well.

I had thought of that as well. but it kind of risky on such a reel :D There could be a reason behind Okumura's design ;)

I want that reel so damn bad you just dont know. Congrats. If you ever want to sell it please PM me.

About the handle dillema you can see if a Steez 80 or 90mm handle will fit.
