No...sleep...'til Brooklyn!!!???

Post by dragon1 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 5:40 pm

Well, got up a couple of days ago @ 3:30am in the morning after falling asleep just before midnight...and couldn't fall back asleep!

So, I got up and packed my gear for Quincy Resevoir in Aurora, CO. It has been monsoon weather here it seems like the whole month, with some hail and small tornadoes mixed in. I figured that I could get on the water and try to get into a good topwater bite:

Image

First fish right before sun-up was right at 4.5lbs...she hit off the dock in about 10' of water over heavy weeds. A clear-green body/white belly Sammy 100 fished on a custom GLoomis CB 845 (slate blank) and Curado 100D/10lb Yozuri Hybrid filled out the combo.

I did manage a few more througout the day and managed to lose another fish on the shallow flats on a Megabass Giant Dog-X that was about the same size as the first fish. Can you tell I was tired and grumpy? Heck, I must've been a bear as afterward I went to work and got off at 9pm!

But the real deal is that I found a fun new power spinning combo to fish with:

Lamiglas XMG50 LP 844 MHF (actually fast + taper) Popping blank extended to 7'3" by a local builder in combo with a Daiwa Certate 2500R Custom & Sunline 24lb Bass PE/12lb YHybrid leader. This combo not only rocks for tubes and light jigs, plastics, etc, it kicks butt for 110s and other big jerkbaits and fished the Megabass Giant Dog-X beautifully!

Essentially, I felt that I should have been wading in the keys tossing Mirro Lures for snook and reds!

No sleep till - Brooklyn

Foot on the pedal never ever false metal
Engine running hotter than a boiling kettle
My job's ain't a job it's a damn good time
City to city I'm running my rhymes
On location touring around the nation
Beastie Boys always on vacation
Itchy trigger finger but a stable turntable
I do what I do best because I'm illing and able
Ain't no faking your money I'm taking
Going coast to coast watching all the girlies shaking
While you're at the job working nine to five
The Beastie Boys at the Garden cold kickin' it live

No sleep till..

Nice fish, and a nice spinning rod. Ive got the same blank extended to 7'6" for popping corks and jigs for sea trout and reds on the flats. A great rod for the $'s. I bet the Certate is a perfect match!!!...
