Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Yesterday fished on hometown small river. Started alone, but quickly found a companion.
Kitty followed to me and staring how i fished. "Will i catch someone today, little lady?" - i asked. "Meow-meow" - she answered to me and disappeared in bushes. By the way - cat is good sign. You dont believe me, but on next place and i have a bite! A little struggle and photo session.
After that on another place i saw pike, that wanted eat my lure, but, unfortunately, missed it. I don't upset, I had perfect saturday journey: river, fresh air, caught a fish.
Thanx for attention! Have a nice day!

Nice job on the shore fishing, that was how I got into bass was from shore. Still do it from time to time when on fishing trips. Need to break out and get on the lake, this time next week we should be on the water!
Nice bass!
Nice bass!

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Yesterday walked on coast of beautiful small river. Unfortunately, water is muddy and i dont know why: there is no rains or something else. So, first 3 hour of my fishing, i can describe in 2 words: absolutely nothing. Then i went to the places, where not so deep, took jointed, slow sinking minnow in fire-tiger color. It seems like fishing tale, but at 5 cast i had 2 bites!
First of all - little pickerel:
Then - biggest pike are near 2 Lb, very angry: at first she fly from water to my lure, but missed it. I cast to the same place - nothing. Cast slightly to the right, YES, fish on!
After that, beautiful evening fell to the ground, i saw sweet sunset, I packed up my stuff and went home.

Spent the first full week of September in Ontario as has become customary for the past five or so years. Weather was nuts......but so was the fishing! We had daytime highs from 49 to 85 and wind and rain much of the time. The fishing was excellent throughout. I'll post a few pics.
Primary pike combos are a Daiwa Steez XBD/tricked out Ryoga 1016 and St Croix Legend Muskie/Pluton 200
Primary walleye combos are Megabass Rattleviper/Conquest 50, Loomis NRX 852/Steez, and Loomis NRX 822DSR/Stella 1000

Man Matt, 3 huge pike on one trip. Nice. All 3 looked bigger than my personal best (pictured to the right). I'm gonna force the guys to return to Ontario next summer. We've skipped 2 years in a row. Its killing me.

Dave, honestly I just posted three......we caught probably 15 or more similar fish. It was a pretty good year for big pike.IlliniDawg01 wrote:Man Matt, 3 huge pike on one trip. Nice. Some stud pike! I am curious as to where the blood on your hand came from? Assuming from the blood of a fish but hoping it wasn't from treble hooks or pike teeth?

Down in my part of the world we're heading into the spawn although the lack of rain has really held things back. This is a reservoir system about an hour out of Cape Town, South Africa. We've got some ok smallmouth fishing here and this piece of water has kicked out fish over 6lb. I started with UL gear but after the third fish shook off due to a stretchy mono line and soft rod I grabbed my light cranking/jerkbait outfit and slowly bounced a squarebill over the rip rap. Not far off dark I finally pinned a pre-spawner.
