Went to Okeechobee for the first time Friday-Sunday with my dad, uncle, and cousin. The artificial bite was nearly non existent, though I managed a couple each day just to prove I could do it. Caught a new personal best on a wild shiner though on Saturday. ~8lb 12oz

Nicest pike so far for me. Also I tested my brand new Abu C3 and this was the first fish on it.

Caught one nice toad today off a Zinker in a creek by the house. Caught a few dinks, but this was the toad.

Thank ya!Dexter wrote:Hey Gone Phishin, damn fine pike!!! Look's like a reel line cutter. Lip hook?
Luckily yes...just inside the ridge on the top of the mouth....8lb fluoro. I believe I was using the 7'1" Cumulus that day, and that stick is so darn sensitive I was able to get off a quick hookset.

No shortage of big structure out there right now. Between the old bridge, the new bridge they are putting in and new pilings going in 50yds down current of the old bridge, all the barges and equipment, and the rough conditions, these fish were a handful. Gotta stay in control at all times. NRX and Conquest rods owned some fish with ease.

What a great way to start the New Year! Made it out yesterday in the coldest temps we have ever had in FL, and pushed up a small creek looking for some speckled trout and bass. After catching several of each, I felt a solid thump on the Shadow Rap Shad. When I set the hook, thought I had snagged another stump, until it started head shaking! Fight was pretty awesome with all the wood in the water, but the NRX 842/Chronarch CI4 did its job!

The NRC 842MBR is a sleeper rod for me, has the perfect tip for many applications. I even use mine for small scroungers, it really gets the light stuff out there.

I agree, that tip is very light and loads nicely from 1/8-1/2oz. Rod works great with all types of baits in that range. I fish jerkbaits and topwaters 90% of the time on it, but won't hesitate to tie on a 1/16-3/8oz ball jig and start working the bottom. Sounds like I need to tie on a Scrounger and go to work! Biggest surprise in my hands is the amount of backbone it has compared to that tip. It's not easy to turn one of those reds from cover, but it does. My most used rod in my arsenal, and it shows! It's looking rough but still hammering some big fish.zodiak311 wrote: Man, that is a Whopper!
