It's been mostly slow at the local pond this year, but managed to snatch this bluegill eater the other evening.

Because of the unstable and unseasonably cool weather it's been a tough finding the big 'uns this season so far, so I've been doing a lot of ultralight & BFS fishing. One lake in particular I fish is an excellent lake for this because of the large variety of fish. You truly never know what will bite on any given cast. Makes for a fun day ...

Man 6 different species on one freshwater body of water is something I’d love to do. Looks like fun on UL gear.

The SS strikes again! What an awesome variety of fish!
Get your kids hooked on fishing, and they'll never have any money for drugs or alcohol.

They're all fun to catch, but the bluegill have a fight to them unmatched by most fish. The yellow perch tend to hit like a freight train but put up no fight whatsoever on the way in. The bigger crappie can be a little bit more fun. The bass can get acrobatic and occasionally you'll hook into a nice chunk that will give you a thrill but the bluegills are on another level altogether. They will work the drag and run circles around you until you get them in, and then they'll pee all over you while unhooking them  I can't help but admire the attitude ...

Found a fish to break in my new swim bait setup. Not huge but still a solid fish for around here. Fish came on a 6” Optimum Boom Boom slow rolled through the pads. Gear used included a Daiwa Z2020 and an Abu Garcia Fantasista Beast with 20lb P Line CXX.

"esox niger" ~ commonly known as a chain pickerel. Here's one of the biggest I've ever caught, 24 inches (61 cm)

Big Black Drum have moved up and started tailing on the rock piles. I don’t normally fish for them, but sightfishing giants like this can be fun. 1/16oz jig with 3” swimbait on my 843c Conquest/Stile SS put the heat on them. It’s fun to see how many times you can turn them when they get moving

Thanks! The vacuum cleaners of the inshore world  It was definitely a tiny hook, probably 1/0 or so. I rarely fish plastics so I was unprepared and had to use what I had. Broke the hook off landing the 5th one. I was tired so no complaints from me \:D/
