Depends on the species, there was a piece from In-Fisherman TV that they talked about flatheads in the winter. And , basically they concluded and said they pretty much suspend or lay at the bottom and generally remain fairly inactive but they will not hesitate if a chance at a meal if it presents it self I'd say it probably goes the same for big blues and larger channel cats.

Bream fishing with a light spinning outfit with 8lb line and a small topwater popper and caught this 40lb 10oz grass carp after a 25minute FIGHT(and I mean fight) I got it in.

Not a glide bait, it was a 3:16 Born Again Armageddon I painted myself.

I've caught some good bass upwards of ~ 4.5lbs this spring, but thought this pic should be shared:

Here's a few recent pics. They aren't much, as the bigger females were out deeper, but I was happy just to wet a line.

Just got to a private pond yesterday evening to test my 14 lb. Sunline Super Natural in green. My equipment for the day was a BPS Johnny Morris Elite mounted on a 6'6" medium Fenwick Silver Hawk, with the line attached to a brown/yellow LiveTarget SQB Crawfish.

I caught this catfish while in a moment after the drizzle had dissipated. The scariest part of the fight was when the line was wrapped around a branch in a nearby tree, especially considering that the line doesn't have a lot of abrasion resistance. Consequently, I had forced myself to wade into the pond to untangle the line from the branch. Contrary to my fear, the line stayed resilient, so I was able to haul the catfish into the shore. Overall, the fight lasted around 4 minutes.

BTW, my shoe is US size 10.

Also caught my first bass for this year which might have weight 2 or 3 pounds with the same lure.

So far, the trip is the best I had in the pond, especially considering that I had caught my first "big fish" in the pond since the 15-inch smallmouth that I had caught in 2007.
