I have found late spawners in June here in NE GA.toddmc wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 9:27 amWe had fish spawning on the 4th of July on my home lake (DVL) about a decade ago. It has a quarry that is almost 300 feet deep. A few deep and cold stragglers came up late out of the depths to spawn. I was bed fishing next to an FLW pro named Art Berry. I think he won a big tournament in Florida. We were laughing because we couldn't believe we were bed fishing in July.
Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Yes, we have some high mountain lakes in N. GA. Some even have trophy brown trout. Burton, Blue Ridge, Nottely, Chatuge, Tugaloo, Raybun, Conasauga, Yonah, Talullah Falls are all way up in the mountains.

I thought that you had some high elevation lakes. I bet they are beautiful, like Lake Ouachita in Arkansas that I fished for a Tournament of Champions many years back. That is as far east as I have fished. I may be heading to Florida to fish this summer.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:14 amYes, we have some high mountain lakes in N. GA. Google some of those lakes I mentioned and look at pics. They are beautiful, indeed.toddmc wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:43 amI thought that you had some high elevation lakes. Topwater redfish action is always fun. Looked like someone threw a bowling ball in the water when he blew it up

Walks on water and catches fish.
Awesome catch you have there.

My quest to match the hatch with the never ending 110 color pallete continues. The GG wakasaki respect is a little darker than the real deal, but gets more than average attention by my 'scientific' testing. It's been a non statistically significant trend at least. The bigs ones continue to crush the jackhammer anyway.

Awesome man. You have singlehandedly got me on the jackhammer train. I've never thrown one before, but am picking up a few in different sizes this Spring.Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 7:04 amMy quest to match the hatch with the never ending 110 color pallete continues. Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
We’re still stuck in pre-spawn limbo here in Northern Ohio, with 20* temperature swings, but it’s kept the window to catch a big female open longer and I was able to capitalize yesterday. Biggest fish I’ve caught in a while. 22” long, 17.25” girth. Fish ate a Texas rigged Damiki Air Craw and then kicked my butt in the current. As far as tackle I was using a Levante F5-611LV travel rod with a Daiwa TDZ 103HL and 16lb Sunline Supernatural. I was able to get some measurements, a few pictures, and then hold her in the water for a while before release and it was great. Fish this class don’t come often around here, so I’m still pretty pumped up about the whole thing
