Throwing a 3/8 Break Blade on an 842 Conquest for these fish is just to much fun! Even with my tarnished brass gears and Corrosion X on my ARB, I was able to land this fish and 20 or so slots
Hookset felt like setting into a stump when the rod just stopped when I hit the backbone(and the handle didn’t slip backwards like I was told would happen
). Hard to beat this bite, so much aggression.
Beautiful fish. Congrats.
I drive by a very small pond with stocked trout on my way to/from work. The pond has well-cut grass, pavement and seated areas around it. On sunny days, people show up in waders, gore-tex head to toe, polarized sunglasses etc. You do it differently - I like it

First cast of the morning. I threw out a senko and let it fall. I go to lift the rod tip and my bait feels stuck. I do a couple quick yanks and then in a controlled way I pull up the rod and pull drag from the reel. I reel down and do this again. I reel down again and now am thinking of how to approach this snag more forcefully, when it starts to move. At that point it was game on and you see the results. The whole time I had her hooked inside the mouth too, which was I relief because I was worried about a gut hook after all those shenanigans.
Anyway, why the story. I recently got done going off about the sensitivity of the steez racing design finesse tune rod in another thread. That's the rod I was fishing. Felt nothing on this bite, yet the rod is remarkably sensitive nonetheless. Sometime the big girls just take it in so gently, that we're not going to detect it no matter what I'm convinced. Second, someone asked whether this solid tip rod could reliably move fish, if needed. Once my dumb&$$ realized what was going on, the rod did great moving this fish where it needed to go. Tight lines.
Edit: sunline assassin was the line

Fish, but come on, the tackle is so much of the enjoyment!
Fun fishing one of my ponds this winter with a Steez CT, precision aluminum 30/28mm spacers, Steez AIR spool, 6# Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai, Megabass Hyuga 64L, and a Megabass Hedgehog 2.5g jig solo, no trailer. Happiness and joy

Hate when a client tells me they want me to fish too, and then this happens
Jackall Break Blade getting the job done as usual.
