Just finished my new favorite.

Post by cjtoad » Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:15 am

Just finish this beauty up. It's a MHX CS721 6' light fast extended 5" with a Hyplon grip, Eva butt, SK2 reel seat, 10 spiral wrapped Fuji BMKOG, 1 double foot stripper, 1 BMCOT mirco top, and a AJ454 Single Foot Hook Keepers. I put a Alphas type F on it with Ito Alphas spool, ceramic abec 7 spool bearings, abec 5 bearing added to the levelwind, carbontec washers, 6lbs Sufix Elite and 2 hours of polishing the insides. It balances right under the levelwind and is by far the lightest casting combo I've ever put together. That's one more spinning rod out of the boat this season. It's should work great for small cranks, Jr dog-x's, small jerkbaits and 4" powergrubs. I can't wait for the ice to go!

Very nice and aren't those blanks great for the price? Good work and attention to detail. Very nice reel as well.

Thank's 5ph. Yeah the MHX are the best buy for the money on the market IMO.

How does this rod fish? Been contemplating on having one built on this blank, albeit unstretched.

Great, I've got out three times so far this season and it's been in my hands most of the time I've been on the water. No problem at all casting an 1/8oz jerkbait. I don't think I'd rate it as a true light more of a medium light, at least in my hands it does. I'm thinking it'll be one of my most used rod in this coming season really a joy to fish with.
