After picking up a Conquest 50 recently I decided it needed a worthy home. This is my first enthusiast level combo and also my first custom rod. A big thanks to Tokugawa for turning me on to Mitch at North Coast Custom Rods!

Blank: MB783-MHX cut to 6'5"
Action: Fast
Lure: 1/4 - 3/4 oz.
Guides: Fuji K Alconite micros; spiral wrapped right
Guide wraps: Black with gold trim bands
Grips: Kevlar tubing w/ gold trim rings and EVA butt
Reel Seat: Pac Bay Minima w/ dimpled winding checks
Rod Weight: 4.6 oz.
Combo Weight: 11.8 oz.
Reel: Conquest 50 (Boca OS7, Carbontex)
Application: Jerkbaits, topwater & light spinnerbaits

I totally agree withe first part, but silence the monkey? I haven't figured out a way to do that for years no matter what you feed it. It just screams more, more, more!!

What you should consider is a carbon fibre handle for the Conqeust.
Would add a nice touch (and length to that handle).

somehow conquest is one reel that is matched best with its stock handle or other conquest series' longer stock handle, maybe due to its distinct gold colour of the reel. The Avail "swept" handle looks all right but still, i prefer the stock handle best
