Ringa SLC-To Bling or not to Bling?
I just got this reel from farmin542 this week and I was toying with a few cosmetic changes. What do you think of it this way?

Congrats man! AWESOME reel...still regret selling mine a couple of months back!
IMO,the best upgrade you can do on the SLC is the spool.

I actually put a Steez 103 spool in it and it casts like a rocket launcher. Sure, I had to tighten the cast control cap down a little further, but the line lay on retrieval was in no way affected. I might put a TD-Z spool in it. I would like to also find a CV-Z 105 spool for fishing braid. It will likely make the trip to Ian very soon....dragon1 wrote:Congrats man! I like it

It screams with a Z105 spool too!
Re: Ringa SLC-To Bling or not to Bling?
Would the aforementioned spools fit in a standard issue CV-Z?
Re: Ringa SLC-To Bling or not to Bling?
I use TDZ spools in my standard CVZs alot. The bearing size is the same so you dont need to change the bearing size.
The spool shaft is shorter on the bearing side than the stock CVZ spool so you need to tighten the tension knob down a ways before it will actually adjust the spool tension, as Tim mentioned. There may be a reason that its not a good idea to use it and someone who knows more than me may be able to explain why, but I have alot of hours of use this way without any issues.

Interesting, this just opens up more spool options. Tackle Gorilla approves.
Another question: will use of spacers be needed for the TDZ/Steez spools much like the Pixy spools in an Alphas/Sol?

Very nice looking as in it's current state. I personally would be looking for a nice silver swept handle for it, but that's just me. Overall, I like it!

I would get Ito Knobs and CF handle! Maybe some paint as well?

That handle pictured is actually an 80mm carbon fiber handle from an Alphas R-Edition. Guess I should post more pics....SmallieSmasher wrote:I would get Ito Knobs and CF handle!
I actually have a 90mm handle from a JDM Zillion that I put on it first. It looks cool both ways, but the c/f handle does "lighten the load" a bit. I'll put up a few pics with the other handle options later this evening.Bass Junkie wrote:... I personally would be looking for a nice silver swept handle for it, but that's just me. Looks pretty bling already. I'd only change the spool.

It's blingy because I added some stuff. The handle, knobs, cast control cap and drag star are not original. Only the spool is original equipment.cndbasshunter wrote:Looks pretty bling already. I'd only change the spool.

You do not need spacers since they are the same diameter, you would need spacers if you want to use a Pixy spool (you just gave me a good idea to try...)
