Re: the 69mh cumara tip broke after one bass:(
Remove the threads & replace another guide tip & you good to go... Or ship it to shimano for warranty.

Yep, strip the thread and glue another tip guide in place, you will never know the difference.

True, or you can take a drill bit and ream the original tip out. Then just re-use the original.aussiebasser wrote:Yep, strip the thread and glue another tip guide in place, you will never know the difference.

Looks to me like the tip of that rod got smacked pretty hard against something and creased the rod just below the tip top. The tip top should just be hot glued in place. Remove any thread & finish with a razor blade, if it’ s possible to see any of the blank below the tip top guide grab it with a pliers and heat the tip top, then the blank should pull right out. If you’re unable to grab hold of the blank then I would do as hoohoorjoo recommends.

If you plan on doing DIY, just order a new tip. Theyre not expensive and it is a much safer bet than drilling out what you have. Also if the tolerance on the tip was extremely small, it might not fit on the blank again due to the taper.
First and foremost I would recommend warranty though.

I'm no expert, but the breakage does seem to suggest an 'injury' to your tip which you might be unaware of. The bass probably just exacerbate the problem thats all.
As the broke off is so near the tip, I suggest getting an new tip back on the rod.

Those old cumara's broke a lot... I broke several myself, but never had one break right there. Mine tended to break after the second guide if i remember correctly...
Re: the 69mh cumara tip broke after one bass:(
Yeah, I wouldn't worry to much and just lose the old thread and replace with a new tip. If your rod has been banged around a lot you could see more problems like this.

shipped back to shimano and sell the replacement, then get a megabass or anything you like that is promising
Re: the 69mh cumara tip broke after one bass:(
I snapped the same model Cumara on the 1st cast, spinnerbait loaded up and pop. I love the Cumaras in the moderate reaction series and the fast bottom contact series but never liked the xf rods. Thats a little biased tho cause I dont really like any xf action rods to be honest. I vote ship it back!
