I hate it when the hook penetrates the fish's eye. I fell bad for him and have to bring it home for dinner.
Most of those come home for dinner anyways ;)
Nice job catching them on the big hooks, that's tough to do. You catching any on the hard jerkbaits? They love them here.

You are so lucky man.

I can only dream of catching some of those fish. Makes chasing largies seem boring now.

Not a super magnum but my new PB ... A little over 5 1/2 lbs. on my Boga Grip.

Caught this past Sunday afternoon in Calcasieu Lake ( Big Lake ) right off the ship channel.

Thanks !

It was 26" long.

The confusing part is I have a chart that says at 26" it should have weighed roughly 6 to 6.25 ...

Checked my Boga and its spot on with weight. So I figure it must be the build of the fish. It did look lean and long and didn't have a bulging profile.

Going back to pervious conversation we've had ... It was caught on a Dock Side Tackle 1/2 oz. jig head and a Matrix Shad in Magneto color.

That's awesome, those baits do catch some fish. Those big trout spawn every 2-4 weeks in the summer so they lose a lot of weight. Catch her in the winter and shed probably be around 7lbs! Still had a big head though. Great catch.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

This was my previous PB from 3 years ago.
Don't recall the exact length but was 4 lbs. and some change.

A couple of friends of mine have joined the 8 and 9 lb. trout club here. Hope my day will come ! LoL
