I'm enjoying my mb reels at the moment but I'm sure I'll own a zpride sooner or later. The zpi 732 spool made me a believer. I'm waiting for the 15 Aldebaran zpi bfs spool, should be out soon :big grin:

Couldn't tell ya, I have yet to buy a BFS rod  ](*,) Spool is a Cosugi Works in the Zonda with an Alphas SV magnet assembly.

Thanks guys, that yellow is my pride and joy!

Ok so I got a couple of days on the LTX BF8 but sadly not that many hours because I was driving from spot to spot. On Saturday I was only throwing LC Pointer 65s, and it threw them really far, maybe even a little farther than the BFS XG.. had to stop the spool a couple of times to avoid hitting boats. The caveat.. I forgot to add the additional magnets provided so I was only using the 3 big ones that were pre installed. With that said, I had to tighten the CC knob pretty tight and turn the outside dial to the MAX position to keep it from backlashing. It seems ABU had doyo fix the thumbar issues as the engagement is very positive. The retrieve is smoother than the LTZ. So I added 3 of the smaller magnets today and the distance was cut down dramatically but strangely I got more backlashes unless I cranked the dial up. Ill have to play around with the magnet configurations. I only hooked into one fish and it ran under a log and with my UL rated rod i couldnt pull him out(was about 3 lbs) and eventually he broke me off. I tried to crank him out but my drag slipped and in the moment I took to tighten the drag I lost the fish. Overall I need more time I think on this reel but I like it so far. One day I will fish it sided by side with the BFS XG and see whats what. But for now I give the edge to the Aldebaran.

Nice, had the same thing happen to me with the 16 bfs xg. Threw a 3 inch keitech and hooked into a snakehead. Thing darted into cover and broke off :crying:

Sounds like a good reel, maybe ill try one someday. I love the zpi brake system :big grin:

The new avail spool and magnetic brake is out for the 15 ald.

5.9g should be a strong contender for the top spot in bfs casting capability

Avail ald15 magnetic braking system + ktf spool = LOVE

I didn't want to invest in another spool, therefore made an adapter for the ktf spool so I can only use the magnetic system from avail that only costs 30$ :D. And it works just perfect :D

Looks nice and clean. Curious how you bonded the brake disc to the spool?

Little bit of epoxy, just to keep it in place. It can also work with double faced adhesive tape.

The new magnet configuration options are confusing but Ill study the chart pure fishing provided.
