Some Lake Seminole froggin fun(picture heavy)

Post by Jeffbro999 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 5:56 am

This is a little bit late but wanted to post a throwback to warmer times.Late September frog fishing was off the chain this year. With all the rain we got,the Flint river had a ton of current which turned the bass on like no other.Caught around 25lbs per trip most fish right above or below 5lbs, no real giants on these trips but still fun. All fish caught on a Cumara 7' H/Mf,Curado 201E7 with 40lb Sufix Performance braid.Enjoy
Some of the cover we were fishing-

This 5 came in with about 10lbs of veg. covering it, couldnt even see the fish. This veg. is in bottom right of picture.

I for one love watching the pop up showers here in Florida roll through as long as they are not to severe, which some can be very dangerous if you are not paying attention. Heres a few shots of some of those storms.-

We usually catch a few 2-3 footers each trip because they blend right in with the grass. The funny thing is, when we see a big gator on the bank or in the grass, we fish the area hard and usually catch some real nice fish in the area. Use them as a fishfinder of sorts, they know where their food is. But the big ones dont bother anyone. They do like to swim close though.

I guess I've been watching too many "when animals attack" shows. I couldn't fish comfortably knowing there are potential gators there that can kill you lol

Nice fish and great looking cover. Looks like it was a blast.

Did you catch anything in/near that shack?

I have to agree with you on the big gators as fish finders down here in Florida. Every time I go out and see a big gator I fish all around the area he is located. I have never had any trouble with gators and I fish from a 11' kayak and have gators bigger than me pass right by me.

Thanks. Didn't catch anything in it, though I thought about pitching a jig in there but didn't have one tied on. Did catch a few right around it though, it made a very nice current break.

I'm glad someone else has realized this because there is definitely something to it. Took a little while to put 2 and 2 together but it works like a charm now. I've wondered about kayakers though, we see them on the lake but they seem to never stop paddleing. Glad to hear they don't bother you though.

Well, it does rain a lot in the summer for sure, but even then 75% of the time the sun is shinning while its raining

Those pad beds hold a lot of big fish and are extremely thick. Thats why I bought a Dobyns 736c, my first :big grin: .
