Those will be perfect for practice )smalliesteve wrote:That works, I know what you're talking about. All I have to do now is figure out the right timing to hit it when the viscosity is high enough that it doesn't flow back to the center, but low enough that it will level out the brush marks.savacs wrote:After leaving it for... lets say 20 min... the epoxy tends to bulk towards the middle. It tends to do this to a certain point. If you readjust it with a brush (again, at high speed) at a certain point, when the epoxy is a bit less fluid, don't know how to explain how fluid... it will remain that way, and it won't pull itself to the center anymore, and it won't pull itself off the thread edges, so the thread won't show thru the epoxy.
Don't know how to explain it better than this
Thanks, I've got 4 blanks showing up tomorrow to start building. (0 of those are for me )

Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
Does anybody know where I can get a carbon fiber foregrip/nut combo that fits an ECS reel seat? I see a few in these pictures. I'm talking about the same one that Dobyn's uses on their Champion Extreme baitcasting rods, just without the custom paint.
Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
I get them from Matagi, I believe you won't find them in to many other places!
Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
Swampland had a few from Phenix, but I don't know if they still carry them.

Thanks savacs for the tips, yes I've tried the tape thing it's a lot of trouble and the results are still not as good as yours.
Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
How about those ALPS AGC-MVT reel seats? Need to use arbors with small diameter blanks? Those looks really sexy!
Re: Summer custom Rods - careful PICTURE HEAVY
Savacs. Amazing work. i love the look of the alps seats with the small integrated foregrips.

That Mhx build with the full cork handle and one gold trim ring is butt hole tight.

Beautiful work.

Beautiful!
I am bias towards the build with the Zillion 50th, since that is my favorite reel.
