Are you looking at 70H or 69MH? They are both bottom contact rods according to their website though.

70H, unless I get a Ultima 172H, then the 69MH

I find a lot of JDm rods manufacturers label their rods for bottom contact, but the majority have a moderate taper compared to US style rods. I prefer faster actions for bottom contact, although I do like versatile rods. Max has been telling me the 170MH is very versatile.

The taper looks to be pretty fast from this video. Definitely think that titanium tip contributes a lot to it. I definitely think Ultima is better looking rod, but I am so intrigued by the unique sensitivity Oltre offers.

in the video he set pretty good and he didn't get much hook penetration.

He is using 14 pound fluoro in Lake Biwa with pretty thin hook though...

It will literally bury a 8/0 owner beast hook at the absolute end of a very long cast... with 40lb SX1 with a 10 foot 20lb floro leader. Fact.
