70H Luxxe Oltre... Ultimate test. PASS! new pics added pg 2
I haven't seen much if anything about these rods and given the extreme enthusiast price tag, I was uncomfortable taking the leap. I'm sure glad I did! The looks and attention to detail of this rod speak for themselves, as you'll see in the pics. As soon as I pulled it out of the rod sleeve I knew it was pure class.
It is one-piece (*edit weighs 4.2 oz on postage scale)and made in Japan, has full torzite guides with the stripper guide reversed, rated up to 1 and 1/4 ozs but feels stronger, I would say at least 1 and 1/2. In hand it feels very similar to the 72H Ultima, even the same fast action (I was expecting a lighter x-fast tip due to the ti tip). I hoped it would translate to a rod as sensitive as the Ultima. That's where the similarity stops... the titanium tip transfers feel down the blank to my hand in a way that is like a raw nerve, I think, hard to explain really. I wont say its more sensitive than the Ultima or my old HM Z-bones, too soon to say with any certainty but it is different no doubt. All I could do was smile when pulling my jig over a branch with 18 lb Shooter and it felt like someone plucking a guitar string that was attached to my fingers. I will be spending a lot of time with this rod over the next couple of months!
Enjoy!

Now I see what you were talking about. When you (edit: if you ever) decide you want to let it go, you know where to find me... Amazing combo, and what a beauty.

That looks great. Thanks for sharing.
That PTS reel seat is nice. I've built a couple customs with them.
