New ride ...

Post by uljersey » Tue May 24, 2016 9:03 am

Perception Pescador Pro 120. Been looking to upgrade to a stadium seat ride, did a little checking around and went with this.
Been out one trip, it rides beautifully and is very comfortable to fish from. Still need to make a few tweaks to get it how I like it, but it's getting there. Wouldn't you know it, the first fish was this runt sunfish that blasted my squarebill crank ... although I did manage a few smaller bass later in the day.

12' length 32.5" beam 64 lbs 375 lb capacity

My buddy has taken a dip out of his canoe in March going on two years in a row now, it's practically tradition!

Sweet ride. That style seat looks much more comfortable than the other type.

I'm still in the convincing my wife I need a kayak stage. She's not buying it though.

Nice yak!
And I like the Wharton sticker. I grew up near there. It's beautiful. Any time someone starts criticizing NJ for being nothing but refineries and New York suburbs I tell them to check out Wharton.

Looks good! Perceptions seem like a great deal, when I was looking at them the pescador was previous gen WS Tarpon for about 60% of the current tarpon. Is that still the case? Beam's nice and wide can probably stand in it... :D

nice rig. How are you transporting it? And how hard is it to load by yourself?

On top of a 2004 Honda CR-V using J style racks ...

Due to the design of the side handles, loading was a bit of a chore until I found this aluminum suction cup at Harbor Freight. They're rated at 110 lbs each, well in excess of the yak's 65 lbs. I can put it where I need it to have a secure handle. It's not the 65 lbs that was a pain, it's the molded in side grab handle configuration that made it a challenge to grab it securely. I hoist it over head and lay it in the cradles of the carriers.

BTW, I'm 51 years old and in decent shape ... you won't see me on Ninja Warrior, but as long as I can load the yak ...
