here is my temporary bass boat!!!

1991 Lowe 16ft jonbass with 25hp .........we have a 30lb thrust transom mount trolling motor for now. Only problem is that the boat is riveted

It is my grandad's boat, and he let us borrow it for the season as we try to figure out what boat we need. I'm really hoping My dad gets a good bonus this year, I REALLY want a fiberglass bass boat, or a new all-welded aluminum one........but I guess we probably end up buying this one from my grandad , but hey Its better than nothing!

GOD BLESS

Dude are you kidding? AWESOME! Learn on that thing, then in a couple you can get the fancy glitter fibergalss kind! The fish dont care wht kind of boat you have, and anything I MEAN ANYTHING beats fishing from the shore!

Good luck with it and catch some huge lunkers!

I also love aluminum boats. That's a nice looking rig. Maybe you'll go through the evolution I did. I started with an aluminum jon boat (no where near as nice as that one), and went through 3 fiberglass bass boats - the first one had stick steering. That's how long ago that was. I now own two Lowe's Aluminum boats - a 16'6" Lowes fisherman with the same blue seats as your boat, but it's a deep V, and a 16' Jet boat. I love them both and can easily pull them and handle them anywhere. You'll love that boat. Good luck, and good fishing.

Whats wrong with that!!! Thats a great setup. Even though it is riveted, leaky rivets are easy to fix... :D

Yeah, i really didnt mean to come across as so negative as I did,
I'm super excited about the boat!!! I just know it will take some time to get all of the goodies on it, but it should be great!

I'm not really sure if it will be able to handle the potomac river, which is my main goal. . . . . . .but we shall see

Im stoked about taking out after church on Sunday!!!!!!!! Problem is, the place we are going is a resivior, we cant run a gas motor on it. :?

Thanks for the comments. . . . . In a a month it should have a new trolling motor on it. . . . . any reccomendations

I was thinking motorguide pro series 54 lb thrust?? Anyone know what shaft length I should go with???

Ben,

I like the ride. I have a alu. boat also. I traded my fiberglass Pro Craft in on a Mag 186 Triton. Best move I ever made (with a water craft).
With an alu. boat you can get into some shallow nasty water where the big boys live.
Have fun.

The main thing is that it gets you out on the water and that it starts and runs. Other than that, what else do you really need? It's great to have a better boat, but it is better than standing on the bank. My first boat was a 10ft Jon boat with an 8lb thurst trolling motor for the only source of power. It got me out there and I caught a lot of fish out of it.

you should anything above 40lbs and you should be fine, although 55-56 should be just as good to get you around the river to have more juice.
