Pebble Beach

Post by Zander » Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:38 am

Over the weekend got to fulfill a dream of mine, played the famous 18 at Pebble Beach Monterey. My driver was on fire, my putter was dead cold, but what an awesome experience. By far the nicest course I've ever palyed on, 70% of the holes were in or on the edge of the beach. (Yes, I wish I brought my surf rod  ) We have been getting a ton of rain lately and forecast was for rain, and it finally started pouring on the 18th hole...so it ended perefectly.

Glad you got to play it!! PB is a great course. Can be quite challenging if you get in on one of those windy days. Next you should hit Spyglass next...or come up to my neck of the woods and play Bodega Harbour. Congratz!! How did ya shoot?

Ended up shooting a 98, really could have been better if I didn't 3 putt a few holes. I've heard a lot of good things about The links at Bodega Harbour. Are the holes also all alongside the water? Besides this one teh other course I really liked was Doral out in Florida.....I would have enjoyed that a lot more but I played Doral years ago when my game was much worse.

When I was younger, ahh, MUCH YOUNGER, I worked in the kitchen of a local country club which hosted a few national tourneys. Supposedly the course was pretty decent, anyhoo, long story short, I can afford only one insanely expensive hobby...and it ain't fast women!

I've been swingin sticks for the better part of 20 yrs. Sometimes its a hard decision whether to go hit the links or hit the water!!

Yeah, on bodega quite a few of the holes are on the water. Not so as mutch as pebble, but still an awesome links course. 98 on that course isnt that bad unless you play it often. I have had a few chances to play it and my score got better and better each time. I think the first time I went out there I shot a 100+... But the last time I went out (last summer), I shot an 79. But still GJ on the 98!! Next time you go play I bet you will be down in the 80's, then 70's...

Yeah I learned a lot this time about the course. On probably 6-7 holes I would go back and choose different clubs for my second shot, or approached things differently. It was the elevator Par 3's that killed me. If you don't put tehm right on the green its trouble...

The only stick I swing is the hockey sticks. Kevlar and carbon fiber sticks all on piece my Easton synergy weighs in at 460 grams.

Meeeee! Love golf, but since taking up fishing, its definitely taken a back seat. Come down to Australia some day Zander, we have some decent courses here :D

 Plan to make it back there sooner than later. My mom is Australian, and my entire mom's side lives in Sydney. I used to go yearly, but havent had the opportunity for some time. Most of the family lives in Mosman.

Yea, I play in the local scrambles some. I heard Lee Trevino (twice struck by lightning) walks off a course when thunderstorms threaten holding a two iron up in the air because ... (wait for it)... "even God can't hit a two iron"
