My first attempt at a Pixilla

Post by Warhawk » Mon Jul 20, 2020 3:12 pm

I started with a lightly used Silver Pixy, added a Ray's spool and upgraded bearings and a Carbontex drag. Instead of a TDZ line guide, I decided to try one from an Alphas. Added a carbon fiber handle, old style cork knobs and a few red dress up parts.

Be careful, that is one DEEP rabbit hole.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Thanks, I already have several pixies. The only one I lack is the orange version, and I have a custom painted orange Sol.

I’ve already decided it’s time to quit buying tackle and start fishing more :D

Yes sirrrrr! =D> \:D/

Never get sick of good Pixy mod!....same goes for Alphas!

They should come with a warning label on the box...

Just like tattoos....no matter how much it costs, or how much time they consume, once you get the first one, you just can’t stop!!! ](*,) [-(

How do you like the Ray's Pixy spool?

I liked the one I had, but regretfully sold my Silver Mica Pixzilla with that spool in it. Other priorities dictated the sale, otherwise, it would have never left me.

How does it compare with other Pixy Spools? I've never owned a Pixy, but would like to, but it is hard to pull the trigger...

My personal tastes like the looks of the SPR the best, but it doesn't have Mag braking, so I would have to either swap side plates or maybe swap in the mag system parts if that is even possible. Always seemed like to much money to spend to find out without knowing for sure.

I actually just swapped the mag brakes and dial from a px68 into an spr myself. Plan on using an i’ze finesse spool in it. Currently have the px68 spool installed with no problems, everything swapped straight over.
