Re: Why I Fish
Great job brother, teach them young. Hobbies are very important in life, and are something I think a lot of people are missing out on these days. Keep up the good work!

Nice eater flatfish!
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Why I Fish
Fresh or salt, it doesn’t matter. They are “hooked!”

Re: Why I Fish
Nice pictures - happy faces!
I have taken my 2 daugthers and my son on several fishing trips. I have seen them catch pike, perch, largemouth bass, trout, cod, pollock, garfish, and probably some fish that I have forgotten. They are now in their mid-teens and none of them have caught the fishing bug as I hoped they would.
In the end, “why I fish” is for me, my enjoyment and my peace of mind. It is my yoga, mindfullness, meditation with a bit of cardio (as I walk a lot along streams).
I hope you guys manage to pass that/fishing on to your loved ones.

Re: Why I Fish
I agree with your “why” and believe me, over the years it (fishing) has been my refuge indeed. It’s the shear enjoyment of the experience from the natural beauty, suffering the harshest elements, the anticipation of the bite, the adrenaline of the fight and the absolute satisfaction of landing the catch. Throughout my very fortunate time fishing all over the world, I always found excitement in every adventure and an unimaginable feeling of peace in those experiences. I, like you, attempted to pass this along to my adult children with only minimal success. I now strive to share the sport with my grandchildren with no false expectation I will be any more successful in passing along the addiction to fishing I have adored over the years. But, at least I can expose them to opportunities to fall in love the way I did.Dalleinf wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:46 pmNice pictures - happy faces!

I hope none of us that love the sport just keep it to ourselves. Even if we can’t light the same passion in others, it’s a passion that deserves to be shared. I am now continuing to do just that. Not only to my loved ones, but to anyone who expresses an interest. Very little else delivers the same satisfaction as seeing someone else’s experience in catching a fish except, of course, catching one yourself...
