Silver Mica Pixzilla

Post by hoohoorjoo »

I just finished this one up, for now anyway (special thanks to LowRange). I added the 7 disc carbontex drag upgrade, SV 105P line guide and cc cap, PXR high speed worm gear with bearing, SV105 drive shaft, SV103 drag star with clicker, 90mm Tatula handle with 4 bearings and old-school Daiwa Works silver aluminum knob plugs. With the stock 5.8 gears, it should serve its purpose of a finesse moving bait reel very well, mostly for light spinnerbaits & finesse swimjigs w/ paddletail trailers. It should also be fun with small jerkbaits. It will sit on a 6-10ML Abu Villian 2.0 rod for now, till I find a more worthy partner.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The stock spool is good for me. It satisfies the requirements for the weight range of the lures I intend to fish on it.

I just picked up my 1st Pixy, a Silver Mica as well. Don't have it in hand yet though. It's fitted with spool spacers and a Steez CT spool. Can't wait to get it. I've heard awesome things about the PX68 finesse spool. I might go that route if I'm not satisfied with the CT spool.

I made the spacers for that reel. Looks like it turned out pretty good.

That looks great! Must have been a lot of work going into it to get the narrower spool to fit properly.

Nice reel! Have you ever tried strike king rocket shads?! Your post reminded me of them. Super low profile spinner bait, almost like a beetle spin. Used to slay on them bad boys. Gonna pick a couple up now that I remembered.

I remember. Quite some time ago though. Are you sure they're still readily available?

Yes, I used to fish those quite a bit in my little ponds I frequent. Even big bluegill and shellcracker will eat that thing.
