That's a very nice looking rod. Are you self-taught out of a book/web, or do you have a mentor? I've been considering trying my hand at rod building, but I don't have anyone to ask questions I might need to know!

I'd assume Netcraft carries the Helium blanks, but I could be wrong, they seem to have just about everything else.

I had some one show me the ropes but I built this one myself, as for the blanks I am a builder with kistler and I get them direct.

Very Nice! I'm about to start on my first as well. I have a large order in with MudHole but haven't checked out yet. Can you tell me what product you used to coat the cork with? I'm getting some cork sealer but I don't think its what I really want. I would like to coat the cork much like the handle knobs found on the ITO Z and such. Is this an epoxy? I want it to have a somewhat soft and rubbery feel to it......not hard and brittle like the epoxy used to hold the guides in place. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your time and congratulations on a GREAT BUILD!! I can't wait to give it a shot with the GLX blank I bought. ;)

In response to your question nautilus it is flex coat. it is'nt brittle it's actually pretty durable and has'nt started to fade or discolor . Bigpapajim I am a builder for Kistler I've only been with them for about 2 months. If you look at the start of the topic I stated that it was made about 6 months ago, that was my first Custom rod that I have made I did'nt say anything about it being my 1st production rod.
