7/16/06--HOT Time Bassin'
Went to a new-to-me pond yesterday and caught three, the biggest a 2lb, 5 ouncer. Very frustrating?
Today though was a Hot time, both weather-wise with a high temp of 100 degrees F and Bassin'-wise as they were hitting left and right for the first hour or so. Got to the swamp pond at 10 AM and left at 1 PM, all wrung out.
Started catchin' several on a T-rigged ZOOM Speed Worm. Didn't take any pics of those under 2 lbs and there were quite a few of those too.
Started throwing a shallow runnin', chartruse cr/bait and caught several with it. Two hit it as it landed before I moved it.
I threw a frog on the pads and had 3 blow-ups but no fish on. The pads were folded over and laying on top of each other as the water had dropped to its lowest point I've ever seen here. Three or four months without any rain will do that to this pond.
Yesterday's 2 lber
Today's 2 lber
Again
18 incher
Another 2 lber
3 lber--I think?
4 lber
4 lber
cr/bait
Same

Nice fish, nice pond, and nice pictures.
Dan do you prefer worms over crank baits? Which one tends to catch bigger fish? Do worms work better (catch more fish) than crank baits in your expeience?

Day-in-day-out, no question but I would go with a T-rigged worm of some kind. They are just so versatile and will catch Bass at any depth. top to bottom .Fishing Fanboy wrote:Nice fish, nice pond, and nice pictures.

But, big Bass can be caught on either bait. I like to use different baits as I Bass fish so sometimes, I'll stop using one rig and just throw another for the heck of it . I am not a "scientific" Basser .
