I have been using Okuma Inspiras and the newer Okuma VSystem series for speckled trout and reds. You cant beat Okumas warranty or price. I mainly use the 30 series which to me are a perfect size. The Quantum Energy and Cabo reels are also very nice.
I just recently purchased a couple of Shimano Stellas though in the 2500 and 4000 sizes. If you have the money I would highly suggest these reels. They are amazing. Probably wont be using my Okumas too much anymore.

I fish both Stradic 2500, and Quantum Catalyst inshore in the 20 size, for Snook, Tarpon, Reds, Trout. Both are great all around reels. I have had to replace bearings in both Stradics after about a year and a half. The quantum is lighter, but still strong. I have caught Tarpon and Snook up to 20lbs on it.

For the money I like the Shimano Stradic 2500. To me it's the perfect size for inshore saltwater fishing. The new ones look even better.

Re: saltwater spinning
My friends have had great success with the Okumas, but I just can't remember which ones (the less expensive ones I know for sure, and they fish them very hard). This speaks well for Okuma in my estimation.redfishtim wrote:what models in okuma, pflueger and quantum spinning do you recommend for saltwater inshore fishing?

Pflueger - I just don't know. Not enough experience to know.
Quantum: the Catalyst Saltwater is a beauty. Best I've ever seen for smaller game - this is my preference.
Others: the Stradic rocks as do some of Daiwa's offerings (I like the Tierra).
Hope this helps.
