For top and mid water fishing using Spook Jrs or Catch 5's or Fat Boys with NRX 854, tuned Chronarch 100D7, and 20lb Sufix braid with a 6 ft 20 lb fluoro leader.
With these setups you have a shot at fish others can't reach.
X2, totally agree!lpquick wrote:I'm living it. G Loomis NRX 893C JWR and Conquest 51.I upgraded the handle recently to LIVRE 85mm Crank, Boca Abec 7 Orange seals and carbontex drag washers.
Kistler Zbone (X-ray blank) Medium Light Mod Fast 7’0 rod with a 2016 Daiwa Exist 2506 PE-H. Sufix 832 white 10# braid to some Sunline System Leader FC 15#.
Light, smooth, but with enough backbone to pull out some big ones.
I do 99% ultra light and light tackle for panfish, Walleye, Bass and Trout. Have fished Florida numerous times in the past. Just never used my ultra light / light for Sea Trout or Redfish. The thought of 3" plastic's on 3/32 and 1/4oz heads excites me!! I did flick my ultra light around years ago and caught a heap of blue runners and some cutlass fish. Which I then sold to some Kingfish Captains...I have all bass boats but was planning on a Kayak and a bayboat for retirement. Maybe heading to South Carolina. Heard the Smaller trout, reds and flounder might be a viable target there.
There are a couple 24" in that livewell!.. That was last year fishing in Pine Island Sound.
I'm a big Varivas fan, but I must say that specific Sunline product is pretty amazing. It's a braid/mono hybrid which increases it's specific gravity and gives it a bit of stretch. It reduces the massive line rainbows on windy days or in a moving tide. Highly reccomended.

Conquest 842 with Stile SS 151 is used mainly for jerkbaits(main baits are Xrap 08 and Flash Minnow 95 Mr) and small jigs(1/8-1/4oz w/Matrix Shad). That reel straight up bombs these lures and have been extremely happy with the performance of this combo. 30lb braid to 14-18lb Shooter leader.
Conquest 843 with Aldebaran 51mg7(7.7:1 brass gears) is used for bigger jigs(3/8-3-4oz), walking baits(Rapala Twitchin Minnow, Bonnie 95) and some jerkbaits(Pointer 100SSR). Usually fish this around docks and structure where I need to get them out in a hurry. Reel really bombs those bigger lures, and I doubt you could backlash it if you tried. Great for covering water casting into the wind. Big hooks and big line helps a lot(KVD size 1, 20-22lb Shooter)
Sorry for the long post, I do some writing on trout and they get me thinking. Picture time, just a few from this summer
