Reel Decal

Has anyone used Testor Water Slide Decal along with a sealant as a means to restoring factory marking on your painted reel?

I had water slides made for my painted revo toro. When calfish put the clearcoat over the paint it sealed it up. Still looks great.

Very interesting.... what was the process involved in making them and who made them?

Teal101, I think the decals add class to the custom paints. Looks great.

I had them made by Decal Connections. For them to use those logos they required written permission from Abu. I emailed Abu and they were more than gracious enough to not only provide permission, but the vector files themselves for the decal maker. Hats off to Abu. Of course when I got done with the reel I sent them some finished pics and they liked them. The next year the white/black paint scheme came out on their Revo S baitcasters  I like to think I had a hand in that, true or not.

I was considering having a reel painted over the winter. Thanks for the info, Teal.

Another member here had them made for Sol sideplates that were painted white and installed on Alphas Ito reels. They looked identical to the current Daiwa stylized ''D''.

Just be aware that with decals like mine a clear coat is needed. Some reels (like my Revo) have a design that doesnt lend itself to clear coats very well. I had the sideplates clear coated, but the body itself and front bezel due to their assembly could not be clear coated without affecting the fit, so those are flat. Gives it a unique look. Check with your painter beforehand, I highly recommend Calfish.
