Daiwa Ringa SLC - Swept Carbon Handle??

Post by triple_illusion » Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:35 pm

Hey guys,

Can anyone confirm if a Daiwa RCS 90mm carbon handle will fit to the Daiwa Ringa SLC without changing to a swept drag star? (Ringa SLC is on the Millionaire 103 platform).

Thanks and Happy Fishin'!

I'm not aware of any swept handle options that fit over non swept drag stars... pretty sure you need to replace both.

Hmmm...I have a few reels with non-swept drag stars that accepted swept handles. I was more or less under the impression this was fairly common, but from your comment maybe not so much?? Makes me wonder if maybe we should start a thread listing details on swept handle measurements and/or drag star measurements???

As I was pondering this, I came up with a way to get the diameter of a drag star:

It is hard to shop for a swept handle as the makers only list the size from post to post. I wish they would include the thickness and the distance before the handle sweeps inward...

I have a swept handle from an ardent reel, I’ll throw in Ardent reel butter as well. Message me and we can come to an agreement in the right price. If all arrows point the right way I might be willing to throw in some quantum hot sauce.

In the future just measure the radius and multiply by two. Center of drag star to tip of drag point times two.

Sure....just wanted to be as precise as possible though.

I think Standard Plus handles and Hawgtech 102mm's are the only exceptions:

The only drag star that touches the handle is on the Blacksheep; however, it is so miniscule that it only is noticed with the drag all the way off. No one fishes like that so it is a non-issue.
