Daiwa Cork knobs for Alphas Ito

Post by BassFreak » Wed Mar 14, 2007 6:02 pm

Hi, Tackle Newbie here, I'm trying to swap out the original Ito knobs for Daiwa cork knobs, and I cant seem to get them flush with the handle. I dont know if I can remove the metal looking "bushing" or maybe I got bearings that are too big. Little help please..
Thanks guys.

=)))) Yea I think it will only fit 2 bearings and not 4 like the ZPIs or the TDZ handles. ;)

Make sure you put a washer on the shaft of each one before you put the knob on. It makes it a lot smoother.

Haha.. Now I'm tempted to get a Td-z handle.. 37bucks from Daiwa with the bearings.. When will it all end...

I actually put 3 washers each to minimize the play. Do I need to put a washer between the bearing and the screw?

Thanks D.R. I do respect and appreciate your opinion as I have read about your expertise alot on the boards..

I say to just go ahead and order a Platinum Carbon ZPI Handle for the Alphas Ito from japantackle.com. ;)

I still havent gotten around to liking the carbon handles as of yet, aesthetic wise.. Do you know how much lighter the carbon handles are from the stock Ai ones?

Only about two grams lighter w/ 4 bearings installed I believe. :)

Funny thing is, I relpaced my other Ai with a TD-Z handle (4 bearings) and I cant tell the difference between that one and the original one with 2 bearings installed. my fishing buddy could though.. I think my fingers need more training.. hehe..

I think my next project would be a Zilion handle for my Viento, I saw someone here mod that and how sweet that thing looks.. I'd have to steal his idea.. hehe
