Kudos to D.R.

Post by avid » Fri Jul 27, 2007 9:26 pm

He worked on a TD-Z that went overboard and sat in the lake for about 8 months before the Florida drought dropped the water level to the point where I found it.
It was all pitted, and seemed totaled, but D.R. agreed to check it out.
Long story short. I got the reel back cleaned, lubed with a carbontex drag upgrade, for $45.00 including shipping.
D.R. called and said the bearings looked pretty good and responded well to re-lubing. Gears were pitted as was the frame. He gave me several options, but actually recommended the least expensive.
The reel works fine, having lost little of it's former grace. It may not hold up forever without a serious overhaul, but it's back home, working fine, and I"m happy. D.R. is an honest gentleman as well as a master craftsman.

DR does work magic! Glad you got such a fine reel going again! A few blemishes on the outside only adds character. :)

I'd think a lot more of him if he'd quit catching five fish to my one from the back seat of my boat...on my lake!!!! :crying: :big grin:

Avid, I'd be curious to see pictures of your reel before and after DR. I'd be very curious to see what a reel looks like after such a long time in the water!

Great story, can't say I'm surprised though considering the man who worked on it. D.R. is an asset to us all. :D
