Thanks for the tutorial! I know that the question of how to paint a reel comes up pretty often. This will be immensely helpful to anyone interested in giving it a go.

Hi, my reel has the frame and handle side plate in bare aluminium. I want to polish it up and clear coat it. Is there a clear coat( or tinted ) aluminium lacquer? It is to practical purposes as I fish salt a lot.
Would painting the inside of a reel ruin the tolerances? Thank you
