Post by mark poulson » Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:38 pm

Does anyone make and sell aftermarket magnesium spools for some of the more popular baitcasters?

There are a couple of Japanese companies that have produced/still produce MG spools.Avail,ZPI are the two main ones that come to mind.

i dont think Avail ever had an Mg spool? Avail, Hedgehog, KTF spools are all duralumin... though i do like how Avail offers titanium spool shafts in some models for further weight reduction!

and besides ZPI, there's a small outfit called Yumeya that offers a couple of Mg spools, as does their parent company :D

africanbass,
I went to the site, but it's in what I think is Japanese.
Is there a translate tab?

Google chrome will translate. If you're using Internet Explorer, download the google toolbar and it has a translate button.

Also, see japantackle.com, it's a japanese site that caters to us westerners who like the japanese products, and also one of the only ways you can get those aftermarket spools shipped to the USA.

I'll try that, and check out Japan Tackle.
Thanks.
