sunscreen and painted reels

Post by biggs » Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:43 pm

So today while fishing I put some sunscreen on and started using my custom painted reel and now the side plate feels a bit 'tacky'. Did the sunscreen ruin the clear coat? Can it ruin the clear coat? it was HOT out. Should I get something to clear coat it again? Thoughts? Ideas? Answers? :D

Thanks guys!

I had that happen to me before. I do recall someone on here saying different types of clear will hold up against the sunscreen. I believe it was the dupon 2k clear.

http://www.spraymax.de/index.php?id=361&L=1 Spraymax 2K clear coat doesn't seem to react with sunscreen. I had the same problem last year after I painted some reels. Repainted the reels this year and use the 2K clear coat and haven't had any problem with them. Good luck.

I've been getting mine at the local auto paint suppier, save me the shipping cost. Lady that works there said it the best clearcoat in a can on the market.
