Daiwa hrf

Post by nagz » Tue Jan 28, 2014 8:43 pm

Hi guys

Just got a quick one

I have just serviced a daiwa hrf for a guy and it all turned out well, reel performed well after the service.
However, when it was fished, the reel would fail to kick into gear after every second or so cast.

Not sure why this is happening, everything looks fine internally.
Drag was on a medium setting.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to why this could be happening or what to look for? I have never seen this before

Cheers

Nagz

Either the face of the pinion gear is worn and isn't completely grabbing the spool pin-or the pinion yoke spring(s) are missing or seated incorrectly on the 2 posts that the yoke rides up and down on.

will definitely have a look at those parts for sure

I'm sure those parts were reassembled correctly, but something may have happened

I googled the symptoms, and some folks have mentioned that maybe the spring has weakened or there may be a little too much grease in that location.

any thoughts or experiences on these suggestions?

cheers

Could be a weak spring also. Try stretching them out just a little and see if that helps.

Turned out to be a slight excess of grease applied to the spring and kick lever

Disassembled, cleaned and lightly regreased, reassembled, perfect :)

Cheers
