Need some help
Need some help
Hey guy's, today I was really bored and decided to clean my zillion. After cleaning it up and putting it back together it feels geary and not as smooth as before. I took it back apart and everything was in there and put back the same way, any idea why it would do this? Thanks in advance

I am guessing the main gear is under greased. Try taking it apart again, cleaning teeth of main gear with toothbrush, then try working some grease into 1/2 the teeth of the main gear with your finger.

Re: Need some help
did u assemble the drive stack correctly? double check.
Re: Need some help
Im pretty sure it's stacked correctly, i followed the schematics to my best knowledge. Its smoother but still has that slight grind and just doesn't seem right lol
Re: Need some help
Gear trains can wear in a very specific manner. This is due to small imperfections caused by tolerances in dimensions and materials. It is always best to put index marks on gears prior to dis-assembly in order to have teeth line up the same way during re-assembly.
Too late for you, in this case but after some time, the reel should smooth out.

Re: Need some help
If it's not the gears it could be the worm gear assembly. Make sure that the clutch wheel is properly seated on the drive shaft and that the pawl cap is not over tightened.

Re: Need some help
Any gear ratio that's not a whole number i.e. 5.3 : 1 is not indexable. Every rotation of the drive gear results in 5.3 rotations of the pinion. Therefore, every time the drive gear rotates, it's teeth are engaging different teeth on the pinion gear. If the gear ratio is 5.0:1 then, yes you can index it, but every rotation of the drive gear will still result in each pinion gear tooth contacting 5 drive gear teeth.Thor wrote:Gear trains can wear in a very specific manner.
