Scorpion 1000 Drag Washers

Post by Crankbaitmaker » Thu Feb 19, 2015 6:42 pm

Does anyone know if drag washers for the Chronarch MG50 will fit in the Scorpion 1000? I want to replace the drag washers in my 3 1000s. I would rather use the original style of washer rather than carbon washers. My experience with carbon washers is that they are very brittle. I just don't want to go through the hassle of ordering them from Japan. However, if I have to I will use the carbon fiber. If I do go to carbon, do I need to add any drag grease to them?

Thanks,

Are you talking about the original Scorpion 1000 or the scorpion 1000xt? The Scorpion XT drags should be the same as the Curado 50E drags if you want to order right from Shimano.

If you give me a day, I can check when I get home if those drag washers are the same size as the 50mg.

The drag washers are interchangeable. Just looked at a scorpion1000 with an Mg51.
Top row is from the scorpion, bottom row is from the mg51.

And regarding your question on the grease or not on the carbontex drags - i add a thin film of grease on my carbontex drags, always. I just think the drag comes out buttery smoooooth when a tiny bit of grease is on. :D
