Storing spare spools

Post by adam lancia » Mon Dec 21, 2015 12:30 pm

What do you store your spare spools in? I wish I had a handful of the Daiwa tubes but I'm not sure if/where to get them. Ideas? Right now, they're rolling around in separate sections of a tackle tray but I'd like to protect them a little more, all without having to use something big and bulky (ZPI spool box). Thanks!

I use a tackle tray as well, but line the bottom with thin foam, so the spools aren't rattling around.

Here you go, Adam. The very first listed, 40S, is for 100 class short shaft spools. I've got several, they're perfect.
Long shaft spools go with 40L. Peace, brother.

Unfortunately (fortunately...?) I don't have the need for big prescription bottles yet. Good idea though, I'll keep it in mind though, thanks.

Definitely better than a message in a bottle.

If you have access to some industrial drill bit supplier , you can buy some off them , drill bits for mag drills come in this type of tube like HH sells , I'm sure they are quite cheaper too from those guys ...

That's phenomenal advice! My uncle's have a machine ship, I'm fairly certain one of their tool suppliers would have these. Thanks!!!

Yup, i get them all the time from our industrial supplier. Trick is finding the right size.

I think I have found something similar and much less expensive. I just need to know how long the shaft on a daiwa spool is now, but I not home to measure it myself. Can some lend a hand (vernier/micrometer)? Thanks in advance!

I saw those but I think they'll be too big to fit into a regular tackle tray. I found these instead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L4I7B ... UTF8&psc=1 They'll be long enough to leave some room for foam at each end to give a little cushioning too.
